- It makes me sad that they were so quick to kill off everyone. No John Wraith? No Blob? No
- Has there ever been a more perfect casting than Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool?
- Speaking of, I'm sorely disappointed that the after-credits didn't show him, or at least them finding his body. What the hell? I stayed to watch Wolverine getting his drink on in Japan? pthbbbt.
- I still think Josh Holloway would've been a much better Gambit, but this one was pretty good.
- Speaking of Deadpool (belatedly), how excited am I that he's getting his own movie? SO EXCITED. I wonder who they'll cast as Blind Al. Bea Arthur would've been perfect. :(
- I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Sabretooth and Wolverine being brothers thing. I guess it adds an interesting dynamic to their relationship, but the comics geek in me is all 'REJECT!'
- I want to know now what happened to all the mutants that were rescued off TMI. I guess they'll be the subject of that First Class movie? Will they have Gambit, too? Whatever happened to him anyways? I guess this rules out any movieverse romance between him and Rogue.
- whoa, wait a minute. Kayla's sister is supposed to be Emma Frost? LAME. SO LAME. DO NOT APPROVE. >:(

Heeee you're like the first person I know who has approved of the Wolverine movie. I'm now excited again to see it after reading your review! I think it's probably perfect for us recalcitrant X-fans who just want to see pretty pretty crack. XD

ahahahaha, which is funny considering my feelings on him in the comics. Damn you, Hugh Jackman, for being so charming! It really was enjoyable, although some of the SFX were pretty mockable.

Did you read the Wolverine Origin mini from like 2001? It had the same Sabertooth and Wolverine brothers story. I can't remember what happens after they leave Alberta, but I guess it's probably a similar story rejigged to fit in the movieverse (what little continuity they attempt there).

Also, ok so he WAS in Japan? I have heard conflicting reports on that.

Ryan Reynolds is absolutely perfectly cast as Deadpool, and he's attached to the movie, too, so it should be good times (unless it's like Daredevil).

ahhh, no. I actually kind of hate Wolverine in the comics a lot. Everything I know about him is through comics osmosis because I try to avoid him otherwise (which is funny because I LOVE Sabretooth).

and I assumed it was Japan since they were speaking it and I know 616!Wolverine ends up there at some point.

I think I liked it because it was the first time, in any variation of canon or fanon, that I actually liked Gambit.

And, normally, I am filled with Gambit hate. But this, I liked him, and I thought he was awesome, and it stunned me so much, I forgot about most of my irritations.

Except for the diamond-Emma. WHO I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IS EMMA FROST NO NO NO.

I'd heard there's more than one ending, but like you, I got the Wolverine in a bar in Japan version. Unfortunately, unless I find a lot more free time in the next couple of weeks and the box office will tell me which ending it is, I'll probably have to wait for the DVD to see the other one.

Wolverine and Sabretooth have been half brothers a couple of times in various comic sagas, but most recently in Origins (which has some awesome artwork and is available as a graphic novel if you ever want to check it out).

They didn't kill Blob, did they? I thought they just left him in the ring? (And I don't understand why they had him become Blobish by being dumped and eating a lot. He was ALWAYS like that. sheese.)

I loved Liev as Sabretooth though, thought he was absolutely perfect.

and Kassie mentioned the Origins thing about them being brothers. I completely missed that! I remember Marvel had hinted at it before, and with Victor being Logan's dad, but I didn't know anything had been set.

When Sabretooth was talking to John Wraith in NO, I thought he hinted that he had.

Liev was so awesome! I wasn't sure what to think of his casting at first, but he was so perfectly menacing.

it was SO MANY KINDS OF AWESOME-- granted not so much in line with the comics, but it made no excuses for that and rewrote history in (imho) new and very cool ways.

Don't know Josh Holloway, but I did enjoy Gambit like woah. Ryan Reynolds was absolutely fantastic. And, yes, all around good time.

It's funny because on one hand, I'm completely okay with the history being re-written, especially when it comes to these characters because things get so convoluted and confusing and you almost *have* to reboot their histories so that they make sense.

But then I also get indignant over certain things that they change. ahhh, comic book geeks - never ever completely happy.

oh yay I'm so glad you liked it too! I was starting to feel so alone. and I completely agree on the killing off of everyone. it made me so sad! I definitely wanted more of John Wraith (will.i.am was really a pleasant surprise) and more Bolt (although I think that was mostly just that I wanted MOAR DOMMIE!) Blob amused me so much and usually I'm pretty 'eh' about him.

Ryan Reynolds was PERFECTION. and the fact that they're going to do a Deadpool movie with him makes me SO HAPPY OMG.

according to an article with Taylor Kitsch in the latest Entertainment Weekly he is signed on for two more Wolverine movies. (plus the actor really wants them to do a Gambit movie which would be awesome.) would someone please make a Gambit/Wolverine buddy picture? because I would go watch that movie every single day.

the whole Kayla's sister/Emma Frost thing was full of so much fail that I just sort of ignore it. WHATEVER XAVIER WAS WALKING. I gasped so loud because for some insane reason I'm slow and couldn't figure out who was in Scott's head.

Wait, people don't like it? WHO ARE THESE CRAZY PEOPLE?!?! I mean, okay, there were some issues with it - I still don't understand the whole alley thing with Gambit trying to kick Wolverine's ass while he was fighting Sabretooth. It'd make much more sense for Gambit to leave them to beat the crap out of each other, and don't even get me started on some of the cheesy SFX - but overall, I thought it was pretty much made of AWESOME.

and, YES! I was disappointed by the underuse of Dom. BOO.

I think the only thing better than a Gambit/Wolverine buddy picture would be a Gambit/Wolverine buddy picture with Deadpool. It'd be like Lethal Weapon, but BETTER.

oh man, I didn't even register the whole Xavier walking thing! I mean, I did, but I guess I figured it must have been before...wait, now I forget. How did he become paralyzed in movieverse? Was it still Magneto's doing? Obviously I need to re-watch the X-Men movies. or at least the first two; I'm still angry about the third one.

I need more comics icons. I have so many icon spaces and I don't even use them! Maybe I'll scan in some of my comics and make icons. :D

I came back and found this entry because I just saw Wolverine and was kind of like, Dude, I didn't think that was bad? Especially after hearing everyone say it was the worst crap ever, wtf? I had a good time! xD

I was also disappointed that so many cool people got killed off right away. I thought Wade or whatever and Dominic Monaghan seemed really interesting. :(

Okay, so he WAS supposed to be Sabertooth? I was also confused by that because like. In the regular X-Men movies they don't allude to that at all faldjfke.

I don't know a ton about the X-Men comic verse, but from what I did know, Gambit was always my favorite! I've read a fair number of Gambit/Wolverine fics in my day, and I was disappointed that he had such a small part in this! I wanted to see him DO more shit.

But yes, overall I actually liked it! :D
