I wasn't going to finish this meme because there seemed to be little interest in it, but I finally got to the part that I really wanted to do.

Ten Days of Me: Four Books

The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander
Yes, it's a series - actually, two of my choices for this are - but these books…THESE BOOKS. They completely enchanted me when I was a kid.

Night Watch series by Sergei Lukyanenko
Absolutely fascinating and creative world-building. There are a few things that I'm not a fan of - POV switching, the overuse of song lyrics within the text - but the stories are otherwise so well-written and plotted, through all four books.

The Princess Bride by William Goldman
Like most, I was first introduced to this story through the movie, which is a freaking' CLASSIC. There aren't words for how much I love the movie, but, seriously. THE BOOK IS EVEN BETTER. It's funnier, more romantic, scarier, tenser, and just all-in-all more vivid and compelling of a tale.

Please Look After Mom by Kyung-sook Shin
I just read this book a month ago, but it's already one of the most memorable that I've read. I really only ever read while on the subway, and about a third of my way into the book, I thought to myself, 'There is no way you can read this book in public.' and I was right because I spent pretty much the second half bawling my eyes out. This book is heartbreaking in so many ways - goddammit, I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

Ten Days of Me: Three Films

The Professional
Favorite favorite FAVORITE movie ever. Everything about it is perfection. I don't even know how many times I've watched it, but it still makes me cry like a baby.

Josie and the Pussycats
If you asked me what I thought the most underrated movie ever was, it would be this one. Marketed as a lame teenybopper comedy, it's actually a clever and funny satire about commercialism. Josie and the Pussycats are the most jerkin' band ever!

Romancing the Stone
I love this move. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE. Favorite romantic-comedy/action-adventure ever. I could quote it all day.

Ten Days of Me: Two Songs

"Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin

This is my absolute favorite song. I want it played at my funeral.

"The Note" by Swingin' Utters

gah. This song. THIS BAND. Most underrated band ever. Fantastic music, but also, and even more, the lyrics are. well. poetry.

Finding fault is never easy
least of all when it's always yours
Just a fragment of a broken will
and a sentence from a note left on the floor.

Never told you that I wouldn't leave you
I only said that I couldn't go on.

A stoic manner begets a fever
which boils inside my dormant heart
A lack of action betrays a purpose
that's fueled me from the very start.

Never told you that I wouldn't leave you
I only said that I couldn't go on and on and on
I never told that I wouldn't hold you
I said I couldn't hold on.

A fleeting moment in my lifetime
creates a memory that will never fade
A change in passion much more than scenery
creates a life that is never staid.

I never told you that I wouldn't leave you
I only said that I couldn't go on and on and on
I never told that I wouldn't hold you
I said I couldn't hold on.

But you never really wanted to know

I never told that I wouldn't hold you
I said I couldn't hold on and on and on
I never told that I wouldn't hold you
I said I couldn't hold on.

You don't even know HOW MUCH my mom would enjoy that. And yes. I was pretty fucking cute, not gonna lie! She's got a lot of embarrassing stories as well.
