May. 14th, 2010 12:14 pmAfter the episode last night, I was pretty much, 'ha ha, whatever, that was ridic.' but now, after having it roll through my mind, I'm really kind of annoyed. I knew it was a bad idea when they extended for another season after Kripke had already said it'd be five and done. I mean, how AWESOME could this episode have been - and note here that I don't know if this is what they would have done, but it's what I would've liked to happen - if they'd gone with Sam and Dean facing each other down, and Sam throws himself back into the void and Dean goes with him. Panout of the cemetery with the Impala and Bobby's body, and Chuck-theos' voiceover closing out, and the shot of him disappearing. Maybe throw in a montage of people living their ordinary lives, maybe mixed in with some of hunters. Perfect ending! I mean, cripes, how many times can these assbutts die and come back anyways?
meh. I'm going to pretend that's what happened anyways.

Date: 2010-05-14 04:26 pm (UTC)While I don't have all the context a regular watcher would have, I really liked how it *could* have played out. Sam, the One Who Wasn't On Board Initially, growing up into his role as The One Who Has To Sacrifice. Dean going back to the lady whose kid was suspiciously similar to him, but not actually his.
Chuck turning out to be...whatever the hell he is.
Even if they'd kept in the bit about Cas and Bobby coming back.
It just felt...weird and off. ::shrug::

Date: 2010-05-14 11:56 pm (UTC)don't get me wrong, i love show and a small bit of my brain would love to have samndean forever and ever amen, but that's not what the original plan was. i like when the story creator has a plan, and lays it that show's gonna be on for x seasons, whatnot. i haven't watched this season of lost yet (waiting until it's all done and over so i can just mainline it all. and pretend juliet is happy and alive with sawyer, don't squash my dream yo), but that's what abrams & lindelof said, and have done, yes?
so, yeah. another season of spn? way to cave to cw kripke. hope dawn gives you your balls back someday.
if it didn't come back though, i think last night's ep could stand as the end. though i agree.....how would it have ended if another season wasn't looming?

Date: 2010-05-15 03:03 am (UTC)Heh. I think they're working on their Buffy impersonations.
Yeah, if they'd gone out here, that would have been pretty amazing. Actually, just knowing the series was coming back for another year really killed the momentum and tension they'd been working to build for, oh, the past 5 years. It felt a bit like they were just going through the motions of ending, rather than getting me really invested in it. Having this be the last episode ever? Then I would have been pretty darn invested and emotionally involved!
