So I watched SPN for the first time in forever.


ahahaha WTF? Who gave Kripke American Gods for his birthday? and why is Ganesh eating people? and black? I can't decide if I like Kali's belly chain of skulls or not...eh, writing it out, yeah. Dislike. But I liked her a lot. She was fierce (although, sadly, not fierce enough. SIGH.)

So there were those two, Odin (with 2 eyes?), Balder (whom I've always thought was kind of a pansy), Baron Samedi, Mercury. I didn't catch anyone else's nametags. Was the Chinese guy Guan Yu?

I really liked that Gabriel really was Loki to them, in some capacity. I always thought the whole archangel thing was a copout - he seemed so much more interesting as a trickster god.

All in all, for all the ridiculousness (and, really? None of those gods could go toe to toe with Lucifer? Maybe the writers were doing the whole American Gods 'belief makes us powerful' thing), I actually liked the episode. Not sure if I'm going to keep watching, although I am tempted by Max Headroom as Pestilence. hrmm.

In much more awesome news, I just bought these shoes. You're all jealous, right?

It was definitely one of the more interesting episodes, if only because I've always wondered what the old gods were up to. We've seen a couple of them in the series, but none of the major ones, like Kali and Odin.

and I still don't buy that he could've killed them so easily. Especially after Kali's awesome speech about the arrogance of Westerners. SIGH.

and now I want to know how many other gods are hanging around. I mean, why was Mercury the Roman rep? Jupiter/Zeus not around?
