Omg. He's incredibly brave. He went back to our all-boys high school and gave a speech about the struggles gay teenagers go through and got a standing ovation from 200 kids who spend half their time insulting anyone different than them.
There was a follow-up article in another paper where Brian Burke said that he didn't march in the parade because he didn't think of it, but that next year if they ask, he'd be proud to do so alongside his son. WTF BRIAN BURKE STOP ACTING LIKE A DECENT HUMAN BEING!!!!
What's even more amazing about that article is that I think Brian Burke is a complete douchebag - most of the hockey world does, I would guess - but, GOD. Being so supportive of his son, in his own belligerent way, it makes me almost like him. and he really is one of the big names in hockey, so having him be so unashamed and supportive is a HUGE thing.
