They were so much better than this series. also about how Aldis Hodge should play the main male character if there's an adaptation. Elliott's writing is...it's not as strong as I feel like it should be, but she does have a gift for both world-building and creating compelling characters. Her ability to carry a plot to its end is severely lacking, and that's so very evident in the third book, where a bunch of stuff happened that made me go, 'wait...what? WHAT THE? THIS MAKES NO SENSE,' but the story is so engaging otherwise that I ultimately didn't care.
