ooooh, READ THE SPIRIT WALKER BOOKS AND THEN COME BACK AND TALK ABOUT THEM WITH ME. They were so much better than this series. also about how Aldis Hodge should play the main male character if there's an adaptation. Elliott's writing is...it's not as strong as I feel like it should be, but she does have a gift for both world-building and creating compelling characters. Her ability to carry a plot to its end is severely lacking, and that's so very evident in the third book, where a bunch of stuff happened that made me go, 'wait...what? WHAT THE? THIS MAKES NO SENSE,' but the story is so engaging otherwise that I ultimately didn't care.
