deathbymutation: Inception, 19th century cowboys in a post-zombie apocalypse world?
So, towards the end of the Civil War, there's an outbreak, some kind of plague that ravages the Confederate army. Soldiers drop dead, one right after the other, and entire regiments are wiped out. But it's not until those soldiers start coming back from the dead, rising from their graves and attacking the living, that Jefferson Davis finally reaches out to President Lincoln to surrender and ask for help. Lincoln accepts his surrender, but by that time, the plague has spread to the North, and the newly reunited country quickly falls apart.
Ten years later, pockets of survivors have sprung up in the West, leaving the land east of the Mississippi to the undead. It's not easy living, and not just because the undead show up farther and farther west every day. Bands of outlaws rove the countryside, victimizing the smaller communities. A few of the Indian tribes are hostile, believing the plague to be a curse brought about by the evil of white men. And since the US no longer exists, there is no government, no army, no federal marshalls to maintain order or provide protection.
In a small town in Kansas, Sheriff Dom Cobb does the best he can to keep his people safe from all threats. But that safety is threatened when nearby towns start falling to the plague. With only his deputies - Arthur and Yusuf - and the help of a mysterious man from Arthur's past, can Sheriff Cobb protect Inception from the rising numbers of the undead?
frisbyg: Hockey, Gladiator era
okay, this is more of an AU of a gladiator AU. But, a long, long time ago, there thrived an empire, the greatest that the world has ever seen. It stretched from sea to sea, and was so vast that it in order to more efficiently control it, the Emperor divided it into 30 districts, each with a governor responsible of overseeing it. Once a year, on the week of the Emperor's birthday, each district would send to the capital tributes, mostly consisting of precious goods and exotic animals. They would also send a group of slaves, and on the final day of celebration, the groups would be forced to fight one another to the death for the glory of returning to their district with their freedom and the prize, the Emperor's Chalice.
