Why do people still call straight links 'fake cuts'? I know it's a stupid peeve, but I get SO ANNOYED by it. This is a link. ( This is a fake-cut. ) meh.

Speaking of fannish pet peeves, musesfool has a post on one of my favorites (or, least favorites, I guess): the dreaded epithet. Everyone should take a look at it - I'M LOOKING AT YOU, INCEPTION FANDOM. STOP CALLING ARTHUR 'THE POINT MAN' ALL THE TIME.

Anyways. Random polling of the f'list: should I put summaries in my fics? I'm so lazy about it. or, hmm. I think I put them - or some semblance of a summary. most likely, it's just me rambling about something tangentially related - on the fics, but on the List O' Fics, I don't. hrmm. I probably should, right? rrrrrrr.

This song always - ALWAYS - makes me think of the Pirate Corp$ issue when they went grocery shopping. LOOOOOVE. I should re-read all of them this weekend.

I like summaries, but will gives stories a chance without them. In those cases I go based on characters/pairings and rating, and if genres are listed, those too.

When reading, I never really look at them, but I've decided to use my Delicious more to bookmark fics I like, and have discovered I like it a lot more when people include summaries. I don't know. I think about this, actually, a few times a year, and, obviously, never do anything with it.

DUH. They're the ones writing 'cum' instead of 'come'. Although I suppose once we tackle that, then where would we be? Maybe somebody will write a fic where Eames has lavender skin.

I never do summaries because mine would end up being, "First they ____ and then ______ and finally ______" and someone in fanficrants would have a heart attack.

ahahaha! When I dutifully wrote out summaries in popslash, it was always, 'The one where ____ and ____ do _____.' I can't be bothered otherwise! All of my creativity goes into the actual writing.

If you do end up putting summaries, they will ttly be all half-assed and inane like mine are (eg: "holy one-night stand, batman!"), because I'm pretty sure you and I roll the same way when it comes to this housekeeping shit. Heh!

my favourite part is when people say it's a fake cut, but they can't even be bothered to put the brackets and the bolding. because then it's not even a fake cut, it's just a link.

i wish the fic i was reading was just calling arthur "the point man" (which one could fanwank as a legit nickname/term of endearment with some effort) but instead i get ones where everything is going along fine, seems well-written, and then suddenly arthur is thinking of cobb as "the blond man".

re: summaries. i've become really partial to how fic is presented on delicious - usually with a quote that gives some flavour of/idea what the fic is about, and some keywords. i find summaries are often pretty useless as barometers of what a fic is about and why i might want to read it.

Hahahaha. Epithets only make sense when it's in dialogue and not actually referring to someone in the conversation.
