I have a Samsung Eternity, and I really like it. I think a lot of people have issues with the touch screen, though. The keyboard can be a bit touchy, but I got used to it pretty fast.
I have the Blackberry Curve. I love the internet on it, and the media capabilities, but the keys are too teeny so I make lots of typos. I also don't like that most functions require several clicks, like to send a text, I have to Open the Address Book, scroll to my person, hit Menu, scroll to Send SMS Text ... UGH! My Sprint Rumor had a Text button -- so one click = Bam! Select the person to text, in chrono order of who you last txted. I text the same six people 12 times a day, so that was super handy. The Curve? Bleh.
I really like my Blackjack II. It works well, it's light and easy to type on, the screen is great (if a little small) and it fits easily into a pocket. Much more hand-friendly for me than a Blackberry! The only thing I have a few issues with are the port-covers; for the power-charger cord, the cover for the port is connected by a little tab of rubber which isn't lasting well.
Still, that's minor. I love the phone other than that!
I don't have one of those, but I work in the business, so. :) The main thing I've noticed is that if you're a light user, the Pearl would be good, as well as if you want a ligher phone, or even a flip. The keyboard is a huge issue for some people, though, if they really want/need the full 'qwerty' keyboard. It's a step up from a regular keyboard, but if you do a lot of emailing and even texting, you might want a phone with a full keyboard.
That said, Blackberries in general are really good - they're great for data and keeping connected, and stand up well.
I have a pearl! It takes a little bit to get used to, like re-learning how to hit the keys so you don't mash a bunch at once. One thing that blows is that when a phone number is like- 555-SOLD you don't have the right letters on the numbers. That's one con.
Other than that I've been happy. You have to tinker with some of the settings so certain parts don't futz on you but once you get used to it it's a breeze.
My experience with Blackberry products, and it's reinforced by friends with them, is that they're sturdy and reliable. And fun. The only downside to the Pearl is the lack of a full keyboard.
I had a Pearl for two years before it was stolen. I absolutely loved it. I got used to the keyboard fairly quickly, wasn't a problem. Blackberry Messenger is a big thing for me, too. All in all, I highly recommend the Pearl.
ooh! yeah, I'd heard about the touchscreen issues, but it sounded like maybe it was just something that needed getting used to. The Eternity just looks so shiny and pretty, and I really kind of want one. hmm.
ooh! I do trust your opinion on these things. Plus, my provider has a deal on a pink one, and we all know how I feel about pink things. HMM. Very very tempting.
I've heard so many good thing about BB products, and I don't think the keyboard issue would matter much to me. This is a much harder decision than I'd thought! (watch me just end up keeping my old phone. HA!)
I was playing around with one today and I don't think the keyboard will be a problem for me. The only thing I'm hesitant about is that the data plan for BB is a lot more expensive. hmm.
