• DO YOU KNOW WHAT TODAY IS? IT'S NEW TATTOO DAY!!! My appointment is at four and I am OMG SO EXCITED. and I think once this one is all healed up, I'll be getting another one right away. I have two designs already sketched out - an Immaculate Heart design that I might put on my inner left arm, and one I want on the back of my neck that's a composite of various lucky symbols. and I still want to get 'kýrie, eléison' on my back across my shoulders, but I'm not sure how I want that to look yet. Hopefully this artist I'm going to is good and not overwhelmingly expensive. fiendling had went to him and liked him, and he's gotten good reviews on Yelp, so. Fingers crossed and all that.

• I'm all, 'tattoo tattoo tattoo!' now, so I think you all should tell me about your favorite tattoos (yours or other people's), or tattoos you want to get, or bad experiences you've had. yes? YES!

• In other exciting news, last night I got my art assignment for thelittlebang and OMG PEOPLE YOU HAVE NO IDEA. I'm *vibrating* with excitement over it. It's like somebody thought, "hey, let's give Cathy this awesome thing to draw...but, wait. How could we make it even *more* awesome?"

I have three tattoos planned:

1. A zipper pull at the top of my open heart surgery scar.

2. This owl on the inside of my left wrist.

3. Athena's Owl (as drawn by Dave Gibbons) at the end of Dan's essay from Watchmen on my right shoulder. (Placement cos duh...it's Athena's Owl.)

I still really want to get the Leonard Cohen tattoo of the outline of the Chelsea Hotel and the robin. I'm just trying to decide where and who I want to do it. I'll probably wait until I move. And then I'll get a few because I've been putting it off, for example I want a hand of fatima and a blue egyptian hippo, too.

my fav is a "dragonfly" i have on the inside of my left leg. he's a serpenty kind of dragon with wings. i call him sparky. he is sassy. i like dragonfiles a lot, but didn't want the boring bug kind of dragonfly, so i came up with this guy.

as for bad experiences, i have a one of my left big toe that was agonzing to have done, had it been the first, it would have been the last. and it never healed well and wasn't done well to begin with, so i hate a it a little. i'll likely never have it fixed up, as i can't bear the thought of that level of pain again.

I kind of want a bee tattoo, because I love bees. Either a simple line drawning of a bee, or a more anatomical graph-like bee. But I don't know, I waffle on whether I really want something permanent or not, which I think is a good reason not to get anything permanent.

I only have the one rainbow lightening bolt thus far, but I know I want to get the words "Something Wicked" in a script font on my side, a tiny TARDIS (from Doctor Who) somewhere, possibly the Wonder Woman insignia on my left shoulder, and something else, but I haven't decided what.

I have no tattoos. Because I am commitment-phobic, and more importantly OMG, new situation-phobic, and because I have no one to go with me and I don't want to go alone. But...

My first tattoo will be a triple spiral-knotwork deal that I'll know when I see it (I've found one that's close, but lack the skills to fix it or to tell someone how to make it what I want), and I'd thought I wanted it at the small of my back, but now I'm thinking upper back but still centered.

My second will be a small spider on the inside of my left wrist.

My third will be a kind of tribal panther that I can visualize perfectly, but again, can't get it from my brain to paper.

3. Dorky as it is, I want to get all or part of the Bene Gesserit "Litany Against Fear" from Dune...somewhere. I haven't decided where.


And yeah, I do think about potentially getting a NYR tattoo, but I don't know how to do it without it being one of those godawful logo tattoos or worse.

Yes! My BFF is getting one with furies, which is tangentially related to going to hockey games because of the "UNLEASH THE FURY!" thing. But other than that. *throws up hands* I was thinking something maple leafy but not LEAFS, you know? Or like maybe a goddess with a hockey stick? IDK! So complicated!

No joke. This is actually my feeling on it, too. I wouldn't want to chance it to someone who was an awesome artist but didn't know hockey.

oooh, that is an awesome idea for a dragonfly tattoo! I like them, too, but I wouldn't want a tattoo of one because, well. They're not the prettiest things up close.

I've luckily had no real bad experienced. The closest would be my first one, where the guy actually lit up a cigarette while he was tattooing me! I mean, wtf? In what universe would that seem like a good idea?

They swapped the art around at some point, so it's languishing under my mom's bed or the chair in her room.
